What you might want to know about the RENO

What is the beam angle?
The beam angle indicates the extent to which the light from a lamp shines sideways. This can vary from a narrow light angle of, for example, 30 degrees to a wide light angle of, for example, 180 degrees. A narrow beam angle is used to illuminate a specific area (often by making use of a tracklight or parlight), for a larger area it is better to choose a lamp with a wide beam angle (so called ´floodlights´).
Can the barndoors be used to focus light on an object?
The barndoors mainly serve to prevent glare when visitors approach the stand. Because a floodlight contains many individual LEDs to create a 'flood' of light, it is technically difficult to form a beam of light with them. However the barndoors allow to adjust the width of the beam angle, thus changing the type of flood created . What is the difference between Lumen and Lux?
The terms Lux and Lumen are regularly used interchangeably. The EU has issued a directive that states that all lights must specify the amount of Lumen, to indicate how much light is emitted by a lamp. This applies to LED lighting as well as incandescent lamps, halogen lighting and HQI lamps. Lux is used as a unit to indicate the amount of light falling on a surface (per m²) on a certain distance (often 1 m), thus giving more information.
What is passive cooling and what is its advantage?
Contrary to popular belief, LEDs also become hot and it is necessary to dissipate this heat to prevent overheating and damage to the individual lenses. This can be done by means of "active cooling" where the lamp has a built-in fan, with the disadvantage that this moving part attracts dust, makes noise, and is quite sensitive to shocks and defects. With "passive cooling", the lamp contains a fixed part, usually made of aluminum, with numerous small plates that naturally dissipate the heat. Passive cooling cannot break down, so it is reliable and does not make any noise.
Can the RENO floodlights also be used outdoors?
Standard the RENO series is made to be used indoors, on request (only for larger numbers) it can also be supplied in IP65 or IP66 version. However the RENO's do have a heavy duty cover over the LED lenses, have a solid housing, and work by means of passive cooling (no fan), so a long operational reliability is guaranteed.
